(btw, i had to reactivate my network card after it before i got my 24 MBits back)
Thank you all the same - Networking expert (Or so i thought)
and who know maybe someday isp will cut the connection because you have disable IPv6
take this warning serious. ( there can ony be 1 adr with that IPv4, so you are already in trouble then you have issue with IPv6 )
to understand this require you have education in network or read about it.
ISP are in controll of IP Adr. this not about our own private network adr.
i could even say a steam moderator should maybe comment on it, then many do as you do, can lead to havok and perminate close of isp port to endcustomer if it goes very bad.
they need to get IPv4 and IPv6 to work as one and that is not possible then people have issue or change this themself.
so please contact own ISP and Steam support, ( maybe not a steam issue but i bet they want to know about it. )
My own settings are still the same, i haven't experienced anything wrong with it. And btw if anything goes wrong or something doesn't work, you can still just turn it back on.
I don't understand your problem with this.
I'm glad that i could help other with it.
Cheers!
I don't care what Iceira says, you've been very helpful and as you said I can turn on IPv6 after World of Final Fantasy (WOFF) finishes downloading. All other Steam downloads were running at 6MB/s or higher but WOFF was downloading at 300KB/s or less. Your tip bumped WOFF's download speed up to 5MB/s :D
This is because you have no clue on what a isp can do , put a new router in or server with ipv6 , and then all network is segmented, This is a a ISP and it will happend , and who said any here even think of ipv6 is running or not someday.
aslong your isp dont use ipv6 it will work. but you still dont get it, ipv4 adr. run out aged ago , and you cant connect to all them ipv6 device without it , so you already start to have segment network.
maybe no one should be hard on you and your outdate knowledge, this has nothing to do with me, this is your isp. and you that actual make a problem. ( and its your isp that dont follow the new ways, they can be so hard and say not isp problem you turn it off, ( funny part here see what happend if you remove ipv4 , sure you get that no network, how come you think remove ipv6 is any diffrence. ( this will be seen as your problem, no matter if your ISP has enable it or not or give you trouble with it now then they dont use it. )
this is a friendly warning , im sure you get the bill, for it, if isp tech someday have to faulthy find on it at your location then you have forgot about it. ( this is not a joke, you waste isp time for own mistake ) they have clear lines of such. ( do contact own isp with it. ) no matter what.
ipv4 adr. run out a decad ago. ( many server is have only ipv6 now. ) that dont mean every tech person has run into such problem.
gl with it.
ps.
this is a senario, that has been debat with test labs on gear use ipv6, problem is im sure things will not be so gentle down the road the cost and faulty finding on the real world.
