Steam is completely ignoring the throttling limit and downloads the games full speed
This has been going on for a month and I tried different computers with different accounts. Still the same♥♥♥♥♥♥
Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

Curious to see, what's behind this. Tried different speed limits already?

People complain about having zero speed constantly, and you're complaining it's way too fast...

Have you tried settings?

Steam (left top of client) -> Settings -> Downloads

Under "Download Restrictions", change your bandwidth limit.

Ok. What do you mean I'm exactly "complaining"? I literally have a trouble with the broken feature that supposed to work, and that is to lower the banwidth.

That's what the word means. I don't mean to offend you and if I did, I apologize.

So have you tried it?

Steam doesn’t throttle downloads unless you expressly set it in the client

I’ve alao never seen it where the client download speed is not adhered to

I would opt into the steam client beta if that’s an issue but it’s likely more of a local install proble

Check out the UNIT Steam displays download speed and throttling in. It defaults to MB/s which is 8x Mb/s. ISPs usually measure in Mb/s so if you have, let's say, 25 Mb/s and set Steam to throttle to 25 MB/s, the result will be off.

Put a speed below the one you want. I want to limit mine to 768KB/s but my steam is ignoring it, but with 384KB/s it is limiting exactly where I want. Do some tests and find the right one for you. It is only a temporary solution but it does the job. Check eventually if the download still where you want.

It gets even better! Mine obeys the throttling limits for a while, but then suddenly browsing gets sluggish - and sure enough, Steam ignores the limit and goes full throttle. The funny part is, right next to the maxed out "Network usage: current" number there is the line "throttling limited to" with a much lower number that simply does not reflect reality.

I think, one of the updates in May or June might have caused issues with the download speed limits; possibly earlier for beta users. There were more threads like this one since. Or as mentioned a few entries above, it might have to do with unit confusion, although it is still suspicious, that the topic has only come up repeatedly recently.
