All of a sudden steam downloads became slow

Hi!
Recently (like a week ago) my steam downloads suddenly dropped. I didn't do anything, just from one day to the other my maximum download speed became around 500KB/s Before it was always at 5MB/s (where I capped it in steam settings) and I still have that cap set yet the max download speed as I've written before is around 500KB/s. I tried reinstalling steam, changing download server region yet none of these seemed to solve my problem. The only thing I could think off is that recently a new malwarebytes update came but even if I turn off malwarebytes I have this very slow download speed. Also my internet is fine if I try downloading something via torrent then I get my regular download speed. Thank you for your help in advance!

i got the same problem also...
download speed is 90-500kb/s
earlier it was 4-5 mb/s
I also have tried reinstalling steam,emptying loading cache,turning firewall off..nothing helps

I have the same problem, but my download speed don't rise more than 100kb/s, the strange thing is that this only happens on Ubuntu, while the download speed in windows is normal (2,5mb/s) i can view youtube on 1080p@60hz with no issue while downloading from steam and my speed tests are fine. Anyone can explain to me how to contact steam support? i have tried everything like reinstalling and erasing the configs but still the same. I'm from spain btw.

Steam support doesn't do anything about this. I contacted them, they sent me a really basic guide not even caring that I wrote them I did all the things that's in the guide. Responded to them with I did all but still has slow download speed, which to they said, they can't help with that.

Ah, so great that we have that personal and close support from them, /ironic mode off. btw are u on windows or linux?

Same problem here, checked everything. I even tried to reinstall steam. Nothing have worked so far.... I thought it was my hdd at the start, when I tested other game launchers I got a download speed of over 50 mb/s and steam on around 300 kb/s. Hope someone will fix this soon...

Hmm... I dunno what you mean by slow. (Only speaking of my own experience here). I always get 4mb/s all the time just like I used to. I don't think it would be a client sided issue unless a thing blocks you from receiving full data speed from steam servers. 100kb/s is VERY slow. o.o

now 15kb/s yeeehaaaa..speedtest 34mb/s origin 4mb/s
