Let friend play with my PC
Hi all!
Me and a friend of mine would like to play together on my desktop PC and my gaming laptop, respectively. We both have steam accounts, and both own (and have paid) the games we want to play togheter, and if he log-in with his account on my laptop (from which I have downloaded the games with my account) steam let him play, but as soon as I also start the same game on my rig, steam tell my friend that he has 5 min left before the game get closed.

A practical example to better understand the issue (for which I haven't found anything on the web):
- We want to play Age of Empires 2 HD Edtition
- I have dowloaded the game on my PC and also on my laptop with my steam account.
- My friend also have bought and dowloaded the game on HIS (low end) laptop
-One day he came to my place and we want to play AoE
-He log off from my steam account on my laptop and log in with his account
-He has AoE on his library and start the game
-As soon as I also start AoE, steam tell my friend that he has 5 min left

Why is this happening? Shouldn't be any problem playing like this for us? The thing is that he do not own a proper gaming PC, but we would like to play a lot more games other than AoE, but we can only do it this way.

Thanks in advance for any answer.

sounds like its streaming the game from your pc over to the laptop or something

Sounds like you did family share, and might be a DLC that is the issue. That's just my guess on this. As you can only get this message "has 5 min left before the game get closed." if you done family share.

Your friend is streaming instead of playing locally. He has to make sure he's playing the game locally instead of streaming. You can do it with Steam.
Disable family share, that will solve the situation for good.

Oh okay so it might be that is due to the family share, which I onestly don't remember if it is enabled or not with his account. Thanks guys! I'll let you know if it worked.
