How do I remove the steam guard code asking completely?
How do I remove the steam guard code asking completely?

I know how to remove it asking me via the app, but then I get asked for a code via mail whenever I log in.

I do not want to be asked anything and only log in with name and password.

How do I reset this to the old stage?

stop deleting Steam's cookie and you won't be asked for a code every time you log in.

Things that delete Steams cookie are programs like CCleaner, other "Privacy Softwares", certain browser Privacy/Delete History and Cookies mode, etc.

Turn these things off.. or tell them to Whitelist Steam. Or.. just deal with the code every time.

Cookies isn’t deletet that much, still I am asked every log in, even if my last log-in was 6 minutes ago.

Anyway, this topic is about how I remove the code asking completely.

The code asking will stop completely when you stop deleting steam's cookie?

What part of “ how do I remove the code asking function “ don’t you understand?

Click on your name on the top right of Steam window.

Go to Account Details, then Manage Steam Guard.

Deactivate Steam Guard if you no longer want two-factor authentication.

:esc_warning: Be warned, this makes your account less secure and any potential hijackers will be able to access your account easily just by knowing the login info only.

1. Make sure you let Steam remember your password
2. Make sure the "Don't remember account credentials" check box ain't checked

Going to bump this (Google search) because for me it's escalating into a problem.

Up until a few weeks ago I used Steam stuff exclusively from the Steam client, which is rather clumsy. It doesn't pick up Steam links, it doesn't have tabs, and so on.

But it tends to lose the cookie a lot. I logged in on Wednesday. And now? I have a "new" device. Same browser, same IP, same e-mail. But it asks, Do you accept cookies?

I don't think it's particularly reasonable, even. Most services I use allow the continuous use of their services for months. Google & Facebook works for years, if not outright forever. Sure, it expires in 30 days. Same with the Steam client.

Please, fix cookie configuration.

Fix it on your end. Something is killing Steam's cookies on your system. Likely some "cleaning" crap.

Your system needs to allow Steam's *browser* to set cookies. Otherwise, you will have issues left and right. It's a reasonable thing to assume that you have somehow set something in your OS or firewall to NOT allow them.

Let it set cookies. It's *required* for the browser-based Steam client to work properly.

I think I figured it out, but I'm not definitive yet. Steam has two sites:
* steampowered.com, which still works just fine - main page, points shop, all knows me
* steamcommunity.com, which again requires me to log in *and accept cookies at all*

There is a thing called same-site cookie.

The two cookies are very similar, surprisingly. The main difference, there are two steamMachineAuth7656... keys, the second one is identical and filled, while the first one is missing from the Community site.

Anyway, hope it helps.
I'm not using a cookie cleaner or anything.

In fact, accepting cookies (without logging in) and then pressing F5 simply brings up the popup to accept cookies again. (But if I log in, it works for a while.)

All the while the next (shop) tab works just fine.

Fun fact: the Wishlist is part of the community site and thus doesn't work. BUT! If I click the wishlist button on the main shop page, it takes me to the steampowered domain, and it loads.

1. Open Steam on PC,
2. Click on "Steam" (left upper corner),
3. Go to "Settings",
4. Select "Security",
5. In the Steam Guard section select "Manage Steam Guard",
6. Proceed with "Turn Steam Guard off (not recommended)".

For me is was also annoying to login back with MFA a few times a week..

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
