Steam games won't Sync. WHY.

For a while now, I've had a problem regarding my steam on my main computer I use for games on steam. Recently, they've been unplayable and I haven't been able to figure out why. I click on one of my games, it shows it's running in the steam library, syncs for a millisecond, then stops. Nothing pops up, not even a failure pop-up on that the game can't run ( excluding when I try a game like Left 4 Dead 2, it pops up for the start of the game- then closes automatically after the intro ends )

There's talk about cloud syncing, but I can't wrap my head how to do it at all. Not to mention- that not all my games run on steam cloud.

None of my friends who own steam have gotten this problem before.

I search it up nearly everywhere, and all the results I've gotten have different answers.

I've tried restarting my computer. Nothing changed. I've uninstalled and reinstalled steam. Nothing changed.

Oh- but of course, this works on the other computer I own. Too bad the games are slow as heck on it. Online and offline.

It's really, REALLY, been frustrating for the last couple weeks. This hadn't been a problem in the past. And the only answer that seems to show up is that my laptop needs to be cleaned of everything.

I really don't wanna take a chance at the fact I might lose everything else on this computer just to play some games- even if I could easily move all my stuff to a place for the time being.

But I have little to no time for that as I do more then just play video games on this computer.

Could someone please help me figure this problem out?

Did you try
(left top corner) Steam -> (pop-up window) Settings -> (tab) Downloads -> (button") "Clear Downoad Cache"?

All that does is make it say Running by the name of the game and it doesn't open up still.

You searched everywhere you say, but you got different answers. Did you look at the Steam Knowledge Base articles?

Answers on the forums often are inclomplete solutions from the KB, given in the persons own wording. Sometimes the wording is changed so many times by different Ppl that they become untrue. Asside from the fact the original KB articles themselves can be outdated. Steam is currently updating the KB pages but some of the popular answers have a life of their own on the forums and are passed on for years. Steam on the other hand needs all articles to be verified and translated so from their end they are not in a hury.

So please, when an article is last updated in Windows 7 times, stop and think. & When in doubt ask here. The pages below also direct to other pages whith seemingly different problems. Do try the possible solutions given there as well. Ofcourse (i hope for you) you should skip the last entry at "Disabling Background Applications" called "For Windows 2000".

This happened to me because I turned on STEAM GUARD. It looks like when you do that, all your current sessions are invalidated and not working (which makes sense). So you need to log out, and log back in, but now with STEAM GUARD CODE, and then new session will be able to sync with the cloud.

I have this problem as well AND i am snyc'd with my desktop which is hilarious, thankfully i am only playing a visual novel.

I actually don't think it has anything to do with windows, its related to the cloud and snycing to cloud.

Just finished installing an update to Steam, now TABS won't sync with the Cloud. Any idea why?
