Disappearing Games..
Sooo... I thought, at a bit of a loose end, nothing really appeals, think I'll stomp some alien skulls and get my eyeball pierced.... Dead Space (the original) appears to be missing from my library... I think one of the things I liked about Steam was I could keep the hard drive pretty clear, install and delete games as the mood took me and know they would always be available (even if some of them took outside help (Manhunt for instance)). If Steam are deleting my library files on a whim, I'd be a tad upset... Mostly my games appear to be there but... Delete a file here or the just to keep the servers lean? I also appear to have lost most of Mass Effect...
I would say ♥♥♥♥ happens but I paid for these games, had I got the CD I would still have them....

Do you mean DS is not in your library at all or just uninstalled?

Why would they delete stuff on your PC to keep their servers "lean?" That makes no sense.

Usuallly when games are missing at a library, the user is logged into the wrong account. Are you sure, it was on this one?
I have not heard of any cases yet, where Steam has actually removed games from a user account. And I think, that's the sort of thing, that, if confirmed, would cause some debates.

Check your account history. Steam wont remove games out of the blue and if they did revoke something from your library, you'd get a red notification on your profile stating this. Likely a wrong account or even wrong platform.

Okay, so perhaps I didn't have Dead Space on Steam, how do I check the account history since THe Witcher 2 also appears on the missing list?

If you bought the game on Steam it will show up here, even if you removed it.
https://store.steampowered.com/account/history/

And here you see all current active licenses on your account and key activations:

I still am unsure about this, I own GTA4 (it's in my library) no sign of it on purchases or licences, only Liberty City Stories, if I had added it to Steam from disc would the licence show?

Liberty City Stories is a PSP game and does not exist on Steam.
If you mean " Episodes from Liberty City" that is only available in the " GTA IV Complete Edition" on Steam.
So its a combi license that includes both the main game and the DLC.

So if you have "Episodes from Liberty City" in your license list you also have the main game.
You cant buy the DLC separately.
