BorderLands 2 won't install

I bought BorderLands 2 goty edition today and when i started to download it it had a couple errors. I brute forced my way through it and now it wont complete its fist time set up. I verified the game files and it says there's 1 error but steam wont re download those files. Is there a way to fix this?

That's normal and to be expected.

Anyway, the first time setup failing is a completely different matter and has nothing to do with the Borderlands 2 installation. The game is already completely installed.

Which step of the first time setup is failing? What errors did you have when downloading the game? What do you mean with brute forcing your way through it?

The error I got while downloading was A disk write error. By brute forcing I mean just clicking download again without doing anything to try and fix it. Step 1 (Microsoft VC 2005 Redist Package) in the first time set up isn't installing
