Desktop Covered in Steam Files and Games Unistalled
Over the past few days I ran a bunch of updates on my laptop and I installed new memory cards. When I turned my computer back on again, the three games I had installed, Doki Doki, Payday 2, and the original M&B were uninstalled but their shortcuts were still on my desktop. I also had all the files from the general steam folder placed in my desktop.
If anyone knows why this happened and if I can remove the steam files and game shortcuts from my desktop without ruining my steam or deleting the games entirely, I'd really appreciate it.
Thank you for your help.

You have copied or moved the Steam.exe to the desktop rather than creating a shortcut to it where it is supposed to be.
I just checked and I see I made an error. I'll make it a shortcut this time. But how do I get rid of all the files on the desktop without ruining anything?
Remove the files from the desktop by hand.
Run the steam exe in the original folder. Make a shortcut to place on desktop.

Do not uninstall steam as you "installed" it on desktop. It might erase all around it.
So can I just delete the files that are on the desktop? Or is it something different that I have to do?
You dont need any files of steam on your desktop
So then it's okay to delete those? And I apologize if I'm not getting any of this, this is the first time this has happened.
Put them in trashcan, empty the trashcan.
Alright. Then just do stuff as normal? I'm sorry if I'm dragging this out, I just want to make sure nothing will break.
Thats simply it

So just delete the stuff and desktop and restart steam and make a shortcut, yes? And I thank everyone for their help.
I read something from another Steam discussion that said everything would be fine if I delete the files from my desktop and then just open Steam like normal. Will that work?
Tell us the difference to what we said to you several times?
I'm sorry, I just want to make sure doing this won't screw up my steam.
Do it.
