Steam client drop down menus not working.
When I open a game workshop page I am unable to select an option in the drop down menus (such as Sort By Most Popular). I am able to mouse over the drop down menu and see the choices, but if I move my cursor the menu disappears. This happens in almost all areas of the client that have drop down menus. This only happens in the client, not the web page version of Steam. Please advise.

I am having the same issue. Is there a suggestion to resolve this?
Duke 11 abr. 2019 às 13:50
Likewise, I've had this issue in my client for months now. To be specific, the top browser drop down menus work just fine (STEAM, VIEW, FRIENDS, etc), as well as the store, library, community bar. I can access profile & messages just fine. Selecting games is fine as well.

However, when I enter areas such as the workshop, achievements, or news; any link placed in the main browser area, I notice my mouse's selection is offset from any link I hover over. This entirely defeats the use of dropdowns (I can't access my subscribed files for example, nor can I access news easily) as they vanish the moment I move the mouse to the sub-menu. Another example is being in the workshop: I can move my mouse over a workshop item and it wont highlight unless I move the mouse horizontally over another. Then the adjacent item will highlight. Selection still works by hovering your mouse over the item you want to select, but there won't be any cue that you are highlighting or previewing it.

As I've said before, I've had this issue for a number of months, since late 2018 at the least. Since that time I've reinstalled windows, as well as reinstalled steam on the fresh install of Win10. This issue has been present on both versions before and after my system install, and uninstalling/reinstalling steam has not fixed this issue since.

This is the first instance of a forum post detailing this issue I've come across. The most common other search results on Google result in payment issues & drop down menus therein, which I have not had an issue with.

I have the same problem... No solution yet??:steamsad:
MJB 15 jun. 2019 às 9:15
@koeio I think it has something to do with the version of windows that is being used. My windows 7 computer has no problems but the windows 10 version 1709 is giving me the trouble. I don't want to update windows 10 to the newer versions so I will just live with it. I could be wrong but it is what it is.

Report it to steam support. I did, and I was helped correctly on the first try. It's to do with your settings in Windows. Just toggled something on a dropdown, and done. Unfortunately the steam ticket is now closed for two months, so I can't access it. There is a fix though.

@Duke Thank You for the suggestion to create a trouble ticket with Steam Support. It did work for me.

@koeio

1. Go to your Steam folder (default location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam)
2. Right-click on Steam.exe and select "Properties"
3. Go to the "Compatibility" tab and click on "Change high DPI settings"
4. Checkmark "Override high DPI scaling behavior"
5. Below that, click the drop-down menu and select "Application" (you may need to try the other options)
6. Click on "OK" to apply the setting
7. Restart Steam and re-test the issue

If that doesn't work, you can try restoring your DPI settings in Windows to 100%:
1. Press the Windows key and select Settings (the cog) from the menu
2. In the "Find a setting" search bar, search for "Change display settings" and select the result of the same name
3. Make sure that "Scale and layout" is set to 100%

I will add that after you make the changes you should boot your PC before restarting Steam.

This happens sometimes, just bugs, like many websites. Usually a refresh of the page will be enough to fix it.

It turns out to be compatibility mode if you are using scaled Windows interface. Find your Steam.exe, right click it and go to properties, select Compatibility tab then tick the box that says Override High DPI scaling behavior. Close that window, restart steam. Hope it helps.

Worked! Thank you....
I use a 50" 4k screen and my DPI is 120%... Adjusting the compatibility fixed the problem… :steamhappy:

THANK YOU

This worked for me. I didn't even have to restart Steam - it immediately worked after clicking the checkbox to override high DPI behaviour

This is crazy! That didn't work for me. All I want to do is add a game with a serial number (from CD-Keys - Dredge as it happens). Is there some way? I can do this? I'm getting fed up trying to get my menus back OR trying to go back to the old Steam UI. Even as an experienced software engineer, I'm half tempted to go back to a console!
