[Halp] Error code -126
When I try to get to the store page, this error appears. I can boot my games normally, but anything else, including help page gets this error.
I've whitelisted steam and steam webapp in my antivirus, not running any proxies, malwarebytes is turned off, I uninstalled steam twice and updated my drivers.

I also turned my computer on and off again.
I have another computer on which this doesn't happen.

I'm trying to run windows defender as antivirus since it's light and apparently not ♥♥♥♥ but I'm thinking it's fricking me in the pucci somehow.

Help. Please.

if u can go to store in chrome or edge and only not in Steam client then its gotta be a misconfigured firewall.
Hey, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately this also happens in Steam from my browser.

well that doesn't sound good. something is most likely blocking the connection to the Steam servers. maybe your hosts files or maybe firewall. try checking them both.
btw Windows defender in latest Windows 10 has got enough features and protection to render 3rd party AVs useless.
I already checked windows defender firewall and steam + steam app are authorized.
What is weirding me out is that I cannot find *anything* online regarding this specific non-game related error type.

Anyway, I'll check out the host files see if that works. Thanks again.
For anyone curious, installing Avast solved the problem.

The problem was apparently not with the Windows defender firewall but with the antivirus component despite Steam behind firewall whitelisted.

Probably there is a way to fix this without disabling windows defender through installing a third party antivirus but that works for now.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
