Stellaris crashes when loading a saved game
Hi All,

I am pretty sure this issue is a mod, but removing them does not get my saved games to reload

I have found, since the update to 2.2.4 that I am unable to load a saved game. The progress bar goes to about 10% and then the games crashes out. This also happens if I opt into 2.2.5

I am playing on a Mac, using Steam. I also have crash reports that tell me thread 14 has crashed. I will post those details at the very bottom
Tried disabling the mods, but the saved games won't load. Recreated on the last 2 game attempts, the issue is that early in the game its fine, but up around mid game, if I save and try to come back later, there is no joy :-)
Recreated on 2 different Macs, the other being an Air that is really under powered for this game. Today I deleted and reinstalled, same result.

Running 4 mods:
GigaStructure Engineering
Guilli's Planet Modifiers 2.2
More Events Mod
Real Space 3.2

I really appreciate everyone who looks at this, please let me know if I can provide any further info!

I have also tried disabling the AV :-)

Just a wild guess, but since it happens after a certain amount of time, maybe it is related to events (like a mid game crisis?).

You could remove all mods to verify that a mod is the issue, but I would try temporarily removing the "more events" mod and start a new game to see if that fixes it.

But again, it is just a wild guess, in case you want to try...

ok, that makes sense...I will have to start a new game and see what happens

Pretty basic suggestion but - have you tried verifying game files? I experienced some crashes and it turned out to be a glitch in syncing save file or something. After verification, it worked normal

yeah, that I have done :-)

You need the gigastructures/real space patch if you're not using it. Easy search on the workshop. Otherwise, if that doesn't work, your save is borked and you need to load an earlier save.

Also, you're playing a game on a mac...

I had no idea that patch existed :-)
Thanks!

I know I'm a bit late, but I was wondering if you had been able to find a solution for this issue? I'm running the game very similarly and also been having the exact the same problem: around 2260ish? all saves past that time frame just seemingly will not load.

I am also having this issue, can anyone post a solution? Those who have had this issue and might have fixed it?
tom May 17, 2019 @ 7:14pm
removing 'more events' mod solved my problem.
sad, but true

Yep same here, I think it is not compatible with MAC.

Yes, I’ve encountered the same issue on Mac OS 10.14.6. 25-30+ hours into a playthrough, and *BAM*, loading the save file crashes it out.

It was such a good run too. I’m so sad. Played as Earth, with the difficulty all the way up and a mod to enhance the AI. Took out a couple aggressive neighbors on a close call after they came after me early. Defanged them both—vassalized one and became friendly with the remnants of a civil war from the other. Got into a Federation with some really cool aliens who were one of the top Council races. Another couple aggressive empires expanded and absorbed their neighbors, and I was facing both of them for dominance in the Southeastern quadrants. Everything was stacking up so nicely, and I was in the course of a truly memorable playthrough. *Depression*
