How to VPN-exception for Steam
I got myself a VPN-service a short while back. I didn't want to use it for Steam for various reasons so I made an exception for it. The VPN-service affords the user exceptions on an application-basis. The way it works is I mark an .exe for exception in the VPN-app and the first-mentioned software is excepted from the VPN-services.

I made exceptions for the following Steam-files: Steam(client bootstrapper), GameOverlayUI, steamerrorreporter, steamerrorreporter64, and streaming_client. Just to be sure no Steam-service would suddenly use the VPN.

However, roughly when I started using the VPN Steam apparently stopped authorizing logins from my home desktop, resulting in having to use a password etc. to connect. This makes me suspect the exception isn't working for whatever reason. On the other hand, turning the VPN off when logging in (after this started) doesen't re-authorize my home desktop.

1. Is there a way to verify if Steam is being excepted from my VPN or not?

2. What app file(s) do I need to except from my VPN for it to never affect my Steam-client?

Try asking the maker of the VPN.

I'm thinking the knowledge of which Steam-apps access the internet is here, not with another software-manufacturer. I'd also think the knowledge of how Steam can return info on which IP I'm calling from is found here.
