Newbie Steam Player - No Man's Sky 6GB Ram error
I am sure that this has been answered, so a link will be great, but I guess I need simpler instructions. Current crash point opens and when choosing PLAY, get error message, then shuts down.
This machine has loaded 6.00 GB of RAM installed.
No Man's Sky requires 8 GB......
I have 10 GB free - how do I fix, or reinstall???

you are misreading

it requires 8GB RAM, 10 GB storage space.

and if you only have 10GB storage free, it ain't enough either.

Minimum:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64-bit versions)
Processor: Intel Core i3
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: nVidia GTX 480, AMD Radeon 7870
Storage: 10 GB available space

Ram is not the same as storage space...

The amount of disk space that you have, if it's ONLY 10 gigs, is approaching a full drive that you will have trouble working with ANY program, if you put more on it.
Its safe to say, at least 15% of your drive should be kept free.

Thank you all for your replies. Already I am so happy to have found folks on Steam. I am impressed with how easily you assessed my problem. Okay, off to make more room.
(I may have a book addiction so will have to trim my library!!)
If you dont have enough RAM installed, and the game doesnt run, refund it before playing 2 hours 2 weeks after purchase.

^^

You seem a bit new to the whole PC thing, I'd suggest hitting some websites and the Hardware section of the forum, to help you out :) But definitely if you don't intend to KEEP the game - or want to wait until you have a rig capable of playing it well, as Muppet suggests return it now, and don't try playing it.

ALSO make sure that the game is not trying to run, in the background, while you're doing anything... Because that does count toward that 2 hours.
