You don't. Seriously. Don't try to circumvent that by using some public service or sharing your number with someone else. Usually ends in tragedy.

First grade family members (parents, siblings, children) are the best choice from my experience. People you have been friends with in real life for over ten years are a decent option as well, but are already somewhat risky. I would not go further than that.

I suppose that's about the one SMS required to set up SDA.

[Edit:] As a rule of thumb, ask yourself whom you would want to hand the keys to your home when going on vacation. That's roughly the level of trust required.

No. Not safely anyway. Don't use other software as a work around. Can cause you more trouble than they're worth.

Ask a family member if you can borrow their phone occasionally if you used your own sim card. purchase a cheap Pay as you go Sim that will fit and work in their phone. Insert Sim. Have Sim send the SMS. Do what you need to and remove the Sim card before giving the phone back.

Wouldn't recommend using it for mobile Authenticator as that'd leave the App setup on their device. Removing it and adding it each time will only be a pain and keep triggering restrictions when you install and login on it.

If you won't to use the Mobile Authenticator and have a Ipad or Android Tablet Install the pp on that and then use the Sim method above to setup the Authenticator on the tablet. As the number is linked to your account and the authenticator you'll want to keep it active. It'll help if/when you want to change things in the future. Pay as you go Sims need to send an SMS or make a call every x months for the line to stay connected. Check when you get the Sim as different providers have different requirements. If it's every 3 months put the sim in someone else's phone and send an SMS to them or anyone. Then remove the Sim. SMS cost 5-10pence here so if you have a £5 pay as you go Sim sending a single SMS every 3 month will keep it active for years.
