Crysis bundle. Trying to get a refund.
I bought the Crysis bundle off of Steam a few days ago. I tried to give Crysis, and its sequel a fair shot, but these games are not for me. I don't like them. I don't want them. Now typically if I buy a game off of Steam and decide that I don't like it, I just eat the cost and move on. However this time the cost is too expensive, for games that I will not play.

I have made three refund requests, but because I played Crysis for six whole hours, I keep getting told that I am now stuck with it. Never mind that the three other games in the bundle I bought qualify for refunds as I have either not played them, or I played one of them for less than half an hour. (29 minutes to be precise)

I believed that Steam allowed up to 10 hours for a grace period. Had I known it was only 2 hours beforehand I would have stopped before 2 hours of play. However I slogged on in the hope that Crysis would get better. It got worse. I gave the game a fair shot. I tried to like it.

Given the extenuating circumstances, the fact that 75% of my 4 game bundle still qualifies, and that Crysis is a big game thus requiring several hours of play to form an opinion on it, asking for a refund is fair. This is a one off issue and now that I know better I do not intend to make the same mistake again.

All playtime on a bundled purchase counts towards the total.

I still cite extenuating circumstances. It is insanely unfair to be stuck eating the cost on this.

Read it again...

Refund requests can be made within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within fourteen days from your date of purchase, or within fourteen days from the game's release date if you pre-ordered, whichever comes first. And if you purchase a new EA game within the first 30 days of its release date and can't play it due to technical reasons within EA's control, you can request a refund within 72 hours after you first launch the game instead of 24.

within 24 hours of your first launch , so technically after first launching it you can play it for more hours unless i missread something

You never specified the limits imposed on the "regardless of the playtime" statement.

When it comes to money or signing (legal) documents, don't believe, assume or guess. Check. Know. Or decide upfront to live with the consequences.

Part of that playtime was resolving technical issues. Crysis didn't even run until I found some command line stuff to get it going. Okay, fine. Fair enough. It's an older game.

The rest of the playtime was spent trying to figure out where the hell I needed to go, in between getting killed by cheap deaths. But that's not enough to form a solid opinion of the game, and so I slogged on, to my great regret.

And now I'm looking at almost $50 flushed down the toilet all because of some arbitrary time limit which is too low for such a big game.

Oh I will not just simply live with it. I will raise hell, as it is not right and unfair.

I want to hear from Valve before I comment further.

You won't, not here at least.

Crysis is actually a decent game I thought it was really cool :)

Cloak engaged
Maximum armor
Maximum strength
Energy critical

Here's how to return a game with the Great Game Guarantee
You may return eligible EA full game downloads (PC or Mac) and participating third party titles purchased on Origin for a full refund. Refund requests can be made within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within fourteen days from your date of purchase, or within fourteen days from the game's release date if you pre-ordered, whichever comes first. And if you purchase a new EA game within the first 30 days of its release date and can't play it due to technical reasons within EA's control, you can request a refund within 72 hours after you first launch the game instead of 24.

thats the one info i found , sorry if i didnt make it clear which one i meant

if a game doesnt run , why would you try to fix it if you know that steam has refunds , its not your job to make sure a new gakme

and the time limit isnt too low for most people

So, you are basically demoing the game?

Gee... I dunno... Maybe it's because like I said, repeatedly, that I wanted to give the game a fair chance?

And the time limit is way too low for a big came like Crysis. You need two hours just to get to the end of one level.

Then in that case I'll be sure to bring this topic up when and where I can. I do not forgive and I do not forget, and I will do whatever I can to cost Valve more money than they would have lost out on had they just issued the damn refund. No matter who I have to complain to.

I've put up with a lot when it comes to Steam, but this is the back breaking straw.
