New Steam chat update invites not working.
Ever since I updated to the new steam thingy invites just don't work. I click the "play game" button in the steam chat but nothing happens. Tried with game open, closed, on the mp screen, on main menu screen, but no luck. Any ideas on what's happening?

Same. Tried multiple people and restarting whole computer and uninstall/reinstall steam.

Same issue
Same, super frustrating. Tried with two separate games with steam restart for both parties.

Same thing is happening for me. This is really inconvenient that the link appears to be broken. Currently cannot play any multiplayer game with friends.

This did not work for me. I have made sure that the two of us are on the latest version of steam with betas turned on. Maybe im just not seeing it but in our chat history there is just a bunch of "You invited <player> to play <game>" but there is no clickable link if we are both in the same game. If one of us is out of the game (portal 2 in this case) it will send a link that say Play but it only opens the game up, it does not actually join.

Edit: I made sure that neither account was liminted by adding 10$ to the second account. Both PC's are on the same LAN. Both PC's are on windows 7.

Also just incase we are doing something dumb. Can anyone please confirm what the chat window should show?

Our chat window just says "You invited <player> to play <game>" on the senders chat and it shows "<player> inited you to play <game>" on the recievers side. There is no button that says join or any other indicator. If i right click the name of the game it just says Launch Game even if i already have the game open. The other two options in the list are for the Store and Community.

Seeing this issue here as well. Friends can send me invites, but when I send an invite, the embed never shows up with the "Join Game" button.

All - I was having this issue last night with 4 friends for Rocket League - eventually noticed I was set to appear offline in chat and so when I changed that to Online invites started working correctly again. Make sure you and your invitees are not set to appear offline.

Thanks, that seems to work -- I also had to change my privacy settings, though.
I made my invites work in Rocket League, FINALLY, by exiting the game & having a friend invite me & launch the game through accepting the invite. After that his pc froze & when he came back, the next invite he sent me worked, while in the game, like normal. Maybe this will help. :)

Hey guys, I had the same problem when my girlfriend didn't get the invite popup with the steam notification. Turns out the problem was with my privacy settings, I had to Edit Profile -> My Privacy Settings -> Set Game Details to Public or Friends Only.
She was able to get my game invitations afterwards.
