Or describe what appears and what is not working and if it appears.
Microsoft accessory not working on microsoft os.I'm going crazy. There is no solution.
Unfortunately, people that still has this problem, will need to find a different solution, or trying to update to Windows 10 and see if that works.
This just fixed my problem - thank you so much for posting!!!!!!
I thought this was a problem with the old OS on my laptop.
I have now reinstalled Windows 7. But nothing has changed, the controller is not visible on Steam. > <
I am using the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ controller.
When it is connected via a cable or a proprietary 8BitDo adapter, Steam sees the controller.
But when I connect the controller via bluetooth - it is not available on Steam.
(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
To solve the problem, I needed to FORCE install the driver for the
"XINPUT compatible HID device"
on the
"HID-compliant Game Controller" device.
I took the driver here: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=xinput
Microsoft - HIDClass - 1/1/2015 12:00:00 AM - 6.3.9600.16384
(there are 2 packages, for 32 and 64 bits, see description)
After that, I installed it like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlvLftCqvSo
Sorry, the video is in Russian. The main thing is that you understand where to click xD
The most important thing! You need to select "install from disk" and set the path to the files in the folder with driver. Other installation methods did not help me.
After installation in the device manager, instead of "HID-compliant Game Controller" appeared "XINPUT compatible HID device". The controller immediately identified in Steam.
But you got it done on 7?
No, I am using the "8BitDo SN30 Pro+" controller. It is defined by the system as xbox one controller.
To solve my problem, I installed a driver that works with any Xinput controller.
But this driver is different from the one on the system by default.
Perhaps the original Xbox controller will also work through this driver.
It seems that Microsoft was specially made in such a way that the old driver was automatically downloaded through Windows Update.
Alternatively, you can try the driver from here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/3vuvg8/manually_download_xbox_one_controller_driver_for/
(Xbox One controller driver for Win 7/8.1 x32/x64)
In Device Manager, on Human Interface Devices, I had one item called "Game device compatible with HID"... I opened its properties, then on Driver, I clicked Update Driver. After updating that, the item is now called "XINPUT compatible HID device"
