Today we’ve made the new Steam chat features, which have been in beta since June 12th, available to all Steam users. The all-new friends list and chat system makes it easier to chat and play games with your Steam friends.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the beta! We'll continue to improve the new chat system based on your feedback and requests. We've already started working on making it easier to chat from anywhere with a new Steam chat mobile app for iPhone and Android devices.

Steam voice chat is broken. It was fine last week but now this week it doesn't even try to connect. Hardware tests fine.

Same- voice chat is broken. In the new chat UI the voice chat button simply does nothing. If you use the old chat UI the voice chat option is completely gone.

for awhile I been unable to use doiscord, so my friend and I been using steam voice, and now, same issue for both of us, the call button wont work, though we text and see each other online no problem

no. just no.

everything is unnecessarily big and make your game lag! it feels slow because it takes forever to freaking open up a chat! the point of the ui is to show info quickly and easily! nobody ever wanted to exchange fast and easy for flashy and slow!

you've really messed up now, Valve.

Please tell me how to prevent automatic opening the chat window every time you login to your windows. It's really annoying. I don't even use chat at all. Use steam only for buying single player games, so what's the point? At least add an option to turn it off.

New steam client is not stable. Voice chatting stops working. The chat client goes into not responding when game starts. Have to stop the process and restart it. Very frustrating
