Edit: I think I found a solution https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/1762481957308971441/
[edit]Now that makes no sense, but now I don't get the friends popup on starting Steam? I just tried that command line switch to confirm it did what I expected, but now that I removed it, the new friends window doesn't pop on startup? So is that a quirky interaction, or just a coincidence?
[edit2]Ok, now it pops on steam startup, if and only if it was open when steam was last shut down, not unreasonable behaviour. So is their a bug in storing this setting, which sorts itself out once steam is launched with the new UI disabled?
That's just disabling the friend's UI.
That is not a solution if you still want the new UI.
As it is, you currently cannot disable the pop-up.
Valve, please fix... It is really annoying
Valve, pls fix
