steam layout: Friends list popup window

Usually steam get to start on boot up of pc, but i cant seem to find a thing or setting to prevent or close that chat thingy pop up and its cluttering up my very clean desktop, only thing there is trashcan and my beautiful background picture!!

is there a setting to stop the spam window or do steam get off the boot up list?

I`m in the same boat, just started appearing today, can`t find a way to disable.

Don't know for sure, but set mine to invisible under friends and it stopped showing up.. really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up way to close it/keep it hidden without actually saying that is what the fuction does.
Should be an entry in settings for it makes it much easier.

Close the Friend's List. Close Steam. Start Steam.

I actually disabled auto-login from Steam, because it is unacceptable that when I start up my pc, this large and annoying friends windows pops up which I have no other use for than just to close it every time and there is no option to make it not pop up. How come they in Steam missed that, as if every pc owner who happens to play a few games on Steam would like to check out their play-buddies every time they open their pc."!#¤%
