Voice calls not connecting.
This isn't specific to the most recent patch. However now that voice chatting in group chats is easier it's more obvious that it isn't working.

Whenever I try connecting to a group voice chat room it says I'm connecting until it eventually drops out altogether. This has been happenign for awhile but I don't know what changed on my PC to cause it to do so.
I use a webcam mic for voice chat and monitor speakers. I know both work as when I test them in the steam settings both work.

It shouldn't be software firewall issue. However I don't have any manual ports forwarded for my router as it's default settings already open ports for steam. It is an old router though so I'm wondering if the voice ports for Steam have changed? Or if there are any known windows 10 settings (such as within internet explorer) that would hinder my ability to connect. (as I tend to lock down internet explorer given that I don't use it.)

Edit: forwarded all relavent ports via Windows firewall and the router... nothing works.

Any help would be appreciative. Thanks!

Same problem here and i'm not runnig any antivirus. I had a weird issue with the old chat really similar to this. I was able to fix it only after connecting on a tf2 server (in my case im playing that atm) after that the voice chat worked just fine. But the problem was occurring sometimes not every time i was opening steam.
This time i cannot connect at all. :/

Are people that don't use kaspersky experiencing this?

Yea, I use Avast, and even with it disabled or not started still have the connection problem. I don't think it's skype as I uninstalled it from my machine awhile ago. Someone earlier in the thread said they did a safe mode boot and were still having problems. So if you're one of the few people who's tried pretty much everything we've all mentioned chances are you're having the same trouble as some of us here are.

Same problem here. But there's something interesting. If I connect via the internet from my cell phone, voice chat works perfectly without changing anything else. It seems like it's some problem with my internet provider, however, the old voice chat worked normally.

I assume most people have the issue in which it keeps "connecting" forever. While in beta and in the first hours of full release, I saw the voice chat as connected and the blue bar next to my icon indicating receiving my mic, it's just that there was nothing sent or received. After a few hours of the full release the problem became connecting forever.

I tried with a laptop in the same network and voice chat works fine, so it's not a router or internet provider issue here.

In the same boat, was working fine last week. Using relatively modern hardware.
I find it hard to believe that my router or windows defender is the problem when Steam was the only one of those things that had an update.
I hope they figure out whats going on and release a patch soon.

anyone got a fix for this? Mic works in game but not in the chat.
Windows permissions all fine, the wbrtc is fine, and steam in game mic setting works just fine.

Just the "connecting..." and never connects.

Not yet. I was talking with someone I know about it and they said it sounded like a security problem on Valve's end of things. Meaning they're the one's rejecting the connection and likely doesn't have anything to do with us the users. Looking at other threads on the same topic, a couple people said that valve is aware of the issue and is working on it. So it looks like we're stuck until Valve figures out a fix.

It seems like it's a problem with the router, for me anyway. Disabling the firewall on your router(not the computers firewall) solved the problem for me.
Steam is using webrtc for its voice chat, which has a troubleshooter here https://test.webrtc.org/
When I have my routers firewall enabled it blocks the reflexive connectivity to webrtc. I have also read that if your router is using symmetric NAT then it will block webrtc, but I haven't tried changing it.

When you look at the logs it looks like something is wrong with ICE not being able to connect...
(VoiceChat) ICE state is not connected after successful SetRemoteDescription, waiting for UDP connetivity
then times itself out after a minute.

So, if I enter my default IPv4 gateway into my browser opening my router, then i go to my routers firewall, (Arris Router) and disable the firewall, then when i try to connect to a channel BOOM it works!!. then a min or two later, it disconnects again, or my computer blackscreens and i have to restart. GOODJOB VALVE! JK FIX YOUR ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥!!!
