Voice calls not connecting.
This isn't specific to the most recent patch. However now that voice chatting in group chats is easier it's more obvious that it isn't working.

Whenever I try connecting to a group voice chat room it says I'm connecting until it eventually drops out altogether. This has been happenign for awhile but I don't know what changed on my PC to cause it to do so.
I use a webcam mic for voice chat and monitor speakers. I know both work as when I test them in the steam settings both work.

It shouldn't be software firewall issue. However I don't have any manual ports forwarded for my router as it's default settings already open ports for steam. It is an old router though so I'm wondering if the voice ports for Steam have changed? Or if there are any known windows 10 settings (such as within internet explorer) that would hinder my ability to connect. (as I tend to lock down internet explorer given that I don't use it.)

Edit: forwarded all relavent ports via Windows firewall and the router... nothing works.

Any help would be appreciative. Thanks!

I have same problem and I did check my firewall, NAT and other things. Last thing to check is if comunication ports aren't taken by other voice comunicator (Discord, TeamSpeak, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Slack) from what I can find they may use same ports, Steam uses WebRTC for new voice chat so it may have problems https://test.webrtc.org

Just tried it. Aside from having to provide temprorary permissions for each test everything worked fine. I'm wondering if that's the problem. That I have some setting that requires Steam get permission to connect first, but because steam doesn't have a GUI for it, it's just getting auto denied. Unfortunately if that's the case i don't know where the setting is. As giving permissions for mic and speaker use was the first thing I tried doing.

Got the same bug, but turning kaspersky's 'Firewall' and 'Protection of network attacks' off, let's me connect to any steam audio service. Turning either of them back on, will give me the bug again, even after adding udp port 27015 to exceptions, incoming and outgoing within the router and kasperspy
The ports Steam uses for Voice are different... at least according to their troubleshooting guide. They have listed 3478, 4379, and 4380 as the voice chat ports. However as Kercondark pointed out it uses webrtc now so you may have to look up the ports related to that protocol instead. Hopefully that gets you through your firewall.

I uninstalled Discord, restarted computer and the problem persisted. What I understand, it should rule out the same port problem from it. Only other program installed from the list is Skype, which I haven't yet uninstalled, though I have desktop version of Whats App installed also...

I did netscan and no udp problems I did check port listening and each time specified port from voice chat logs was Allowed, not restricted (i only use windows firewall) ... Same goes for TCP (btw it uses more tcp then mentioned) last thing left was Router and ISP... but interesting i don't have problem with slack (it is based on webrtc)

Same problem here. Kaspersky is the problem! When im deactivating Kaspersky protection, then it works perfectly with Steam. Do i reactivate this, the same error occurs.

I tried everything, but to kill my Kaspersky should be my only one option? A friend of me has also Kaspersky and he has no problems with Steam Voice. I configurated my Kaspersky ecactly like his ones. Still dont work. :(

Are people that don't use kaspersky experiencing this?

Did you try to right click on Kaspersky logo in the system tray (task bar) and choose something like "disable protection"? (sorry, i habe german Kaspersky and there is "Schutz anhalten".)

This little think works for my friend. But its not the ultimate solution

Tried that, disabling protection inside the aplication, disabling every possible security option, exiting kaspersky...nothing did nothing...didn't unistall, though

Yes. I have Avira Antivirus. Tried to disable it without success, not sure if it still can affect the connection somehow.

About my previous comment: Tried connecting with computer without Whats App desktop, same problem. Two computers in my household can't connect in the new voice chat. Old chat call works well. Both have the Skype preinstalled, though I don't believe it's the cause of this.

Also I can't connect with my laptop at schools WLAN either. If it's not fixed before, I will try to connect with the same laptop at my brothers house next saturday, where it's confirmed working with another computer.
