Config Steam Controller for PCSX2

Hello I am trying to set up my Steam controller for PCSX2. I tried following tutorials posted online and on youtube especially this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Elp3oGY7FBE . But I am in running into a problem where I have followed his instructions and I have bound all of the buttons I will need to regular keys such as " a , b , s," etc. My problem comes when I go to config the controller in PCSX2. These bindings don't translate over. For example on the right and left of the steam button are those 2 arrow keys. The right one which in a Playstation controller would translate to start. I have bound this to "f" yet when I got to config the start button in PCSX2 and press that button on the steam controller it exits out of PCSX2. Which by default that key on the steam controller translates to esc. I am trying to figure out why my bindings are not transfering over so I can fix this and just play this game. Any help would be greatly appreciated and my desk would love it so I would stop banging on it in frustation.

So I can't ask questions about PSCX2 even though its in my steam library and others have asked questions?

NO. You are using a console emulator. Talk about that is not allowed.
