Downloads Take Forever!
http://img.awfordjr.com/uploads/big/dd57dfcb105276bdd7d048a1bfe8f1a3.png

This is an on going problem now for about 1 month. Please take a look at the above image for speeds test, hardware, etc... before you reply.
=====
I have been trying now for about a month to reinstall all my games back on my 8TB hard drive but steam is extremely slow in downloading one game let alone 500+. Other game clients download at speeds of around 20MB/s to 30MB/s to the same drive with no problems. Steam jumps around & fluctuates with single downloads no matter the size & will start & stop many times during the download taking hours instead of the time it should be taking if it wasn't so inconsistent.

Bethesda Client: 20MB/s to 30MB/s download speeds no fluctuating
Origin Client: 20MB/s to 30MB/s download speeds no fluctuating
Battle.net Client: 20MB/s to 30MB/s download speeds no fluctuating

Fallout 76 is a little bit shy of 80GBs install size & takes about 1 hour to 1.5 hours to download & install. Any games on Steam can take days to install because of it fluctuating all the the time. I have cleared the cache for steam. I have reinstalled it many times to SSDs & other locations with little to no change. I even deleted all entries in my registry for steam, still no change.

If anyone can provide any useful information I would love to hear it.

ask own isp and steam support. only 2 left in who doing what.

ps.
you look like a US and possible verizon ISP, but just because i mention this, dont mean its one of them, the last case its was both of them or steam with rerouting, maybe ask steam because sit here with ½ of something and who is effect or are you even part of this. is impossible for me to say. ( but it look like it )

from you end-point to ISP to alot other go through connection ( isp's ) before it hits steam server.

and thats why you need ISP help and steam from other side.

It is not my ISP because my friend has the same ISP which is Charter/Spectrum not Verizon & he does not have this problem. He has a lower bandwidth package then me which is 200Mbps & mine is 400Mbps & he gets all his games much faster on Steam. So the ISP is not an issue here. Its not a router issue because wither I am connected to the router to directly connect to the cable modem, I get the same issues. Trust me I have tested most of the things most would suggest with no luck in change. Nothing has changed hardware wise since it started this.

and you still forgot last part steam own router and server ( rerouting can be many places ) even steam own isp. (that you cant contact, that why you need own isp and steam to look at it. )
its simple out of your hands, you can only contact own isp and get them to look at it into steam.

you can only complain as customer at own isp and steam, (not sure complain is the right word here, but to look at it, whats going on here. )

I have no clue what it is that you are trying to say... But any way I doubt its Steams ISP either.

quite simple , 100 people in a chain, and you are first and steam are last.

you are customer and next hand in the chain ( your ISP ) , same as steam has next hands in chain as ISP in the other end

and you can only contact own ISP and steam support where you are customer.
all the middle wont lift a hand for you then you are not those people customer.

and this is routing through all the chains, and its impossible to say if someone cant keep up or reduce speed as congesstions. its out of your hands. ( and they dont report to you or tell you anything )

you notice how there is constant disk activity despite no network activity? it's because there is some unpacking happening on disk inbetween chunks of downloads. some games update that way. Your X: drive is a big spindle, right? Doesn't move as fast as an SSD would. Your E5649 is a bit dated in overall speed. The update packages need to be extracted which will eat up processing power. Combine that with your spindle drive and it's going to run a lot slower than your 400mpbs network.

Dude 80GB Fallout 76 Installs on that same 8TB drive with no problems. So please do tell me how you came to believe its the hard drive or my CPU? I wonder if you people even read & looked at the pictures before you had these great words of wisdom here. Before the last UI update everything worked just fine, all the same games, and all the same hardware. So yeah... I doubt the UI has much to do with it but something in that updates made my steam client ....

gl with it, i doubt you even graps ½ of anything and now you argue with rawWwRrr that also try to help you, this is user forum, and try see it as ideas to solve it, or do it yourself then, that what's most have to do themself. ( you have a server and you dont know bottleneck in DL and disk performance/cpu in unpacking it and both on same time can be a issue with supercompressed files today.

Because neither of you have offered anything useful. Your both rambling on without even reading & viewing all the information provided. Nothing either of you have said is helpful in any way.

https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/52581/intel-xeon-processor-e5649-12m-cache-2-53-ghz-5-86-gt-s-intel-qpi.html

is intel boost active so it can throttle up to apox 3ghz ( i bet it is ) and do you have full performance in power scematic, reduce mode as Balance mode will lower the performance on pc in overall.

and its actual not us that need to solve it , its you, we other can only give idea's

you have a server and that could be the problem here. they are not as powerfull as you think they aim for network service not gaming pc. ( most will say see the cpu, and you are already in trouble.)

my 8 year old laptop has better cpu power then you ( sure you got 2 more cores ) but its not a gaming pc. and whoever told you that , dont know anything, go se new game release's and you wont even could start them. or even older games where 3ghz+ is required.

as i recall some single core game do have 3ghz game requirements.

No idea why but its working perfectly for now. I am happy, and to the previous people who posted. Please do tell how it is that my so called crap hardware can function properly now? I am sure you will find new things to say about it now because your just so smart.

Thank you Valve/Steam
