You always update drivers on new equipment.
Laptop hardware is still weaker than desktop hardware by quite a lot.
So if it needs a GTX 980 then you should get a laptop with 1080 ti or 2070 SUPER.
(a laptop 980 is 50% weaker than a generic 980 for example).

If there's anything I'm missing please let me know, and how to look up that information to share
My old ~laptop~ with weaker specs runs the game.
My new ~laptop~ with better specs does not run the game.
Neither laptop has an NVidia graphics card.
Why does my old out of date laptop with no updates run the game?
But my new laptop with better specs cannot run the game?
I've only recently started using my laptop for gaming, beyond something like League of Legends.
I'm completely willing to follow instructions for all advice and appreciate any help given.
But the logic of the problem frustrates me profusely.
My original PC is a Dell 2002. Ancient.
The laptop I bought (the old one) far outperforms my PC and it had all the power and utility I was looking for, all of which, including storage space, surpassed me PC.
I don't have a disposable income, so I have to save up money to purchase anything for myself, and that's where I am now, having saved up and bought a new laptop.
Both laptops are "out of the box" in terms of me never buying or installing additional graphics cards.
The prices I saw for NVidia cards (to me) is staggering, considering I've never even spent that much money on a Laptop itself.
Why does my older, weaker laptop run Osiris, but my newer one does not? My old laptop does not meet minimum system requirements to run the game. But it does. It's slow, low FPS, poor textures, but it runs the game and I have over 800+ hours logged in Osiris on the old laptop.
I apologize for the inconvenience of my ignorance. This is very new to me.
you clearly DIDN'T read the specs of the game you're trying to play...
NEW DOES NOT MEAN BETTER!
For ANY modern game you also need a discrete GPU...
I'd recommend returning it and buying a laptop with a 1660 ti or something similar, with an 8th or 9th gen i5 or i7 and 16GB of RAM.
Why is everyone ignoring what I've said? My out of date laptop with an Intel Graphics Card that came built in RUNS THE GAME.
It WORKS on my old laptop.
So someone tell me how a rig with better specs isnt' running it. Is that question just completely flying over your head? You got all the answers so tell me how I've magically been playing the game since Aug17th of last year? Tell me mr magician =/ Since you know what I have and havn't read despite me literally minutes ago stating I have. It's insulting to me really, you don't think I read the specs last year before I bought the game? How'd I get almost 1000 hours of game play if it doesn't work? Tell me how that happens hm?
If you bought that laptop to play games on it, you wasted your money, completely.
That's a laptop for surfing websites and watching videos.
Osiris New Dawn lists a GTX 680 as minimum. Nowhere does ANY integrated videochip, be it Intel or AMD come close to that.
Configuration most likely. You've got different hardware, OS, and various other bits. It's not always raw power that's the issue. I mean you can probably get it to run as well as the old laptop, maybe a bit better (assuming the old laptop really is worse across the board). But outside of installing new drivers and whatnot, it'll take some more detailed troubleshooting to figure out what the issue is. Unfortunately the developer may not be keen about worrying over someone in your predicament.
You probably should have gotten some advice on buying a laptop to run this game better, as opposed to getting a laptop that's still (well) below the minimum. Although looking at it your budget was probably pretty nil anyway...
Also, this.
Wouldn't be surprised if the old laptop is actually better, considering how weak the new one is. It's pretty borderline to an Ultrabook.
