Steam Disk write error when preallocating (SSD)
Hi guys, everytime I try to download games like PUBG, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Mordhau or Resident Evil " Remake on my SSD my Steam will show after a few seconds while preallocating Disk write error. It shows "An error occurred while installing MORDHAU (disk write error) : C:\...\Mordhau\Content\Paks\pakchunk20-WindowsClient.pak". And it is always a game with those pakchunk files. I tried every Solution on Steam and even a fresh windows 10. The SSD is complete new and when downloading Star Wars via Origin it works, it's only Steam where it doesnt work. Sry for the bad english and I hope you guys can help me

"DiskPart failed to clear disk attributes"

Open computer and right click on your SSD and chose properties.
On the tools tab click on error checking and check both boxes.
If it says it needs to restart to do the tests click on start on next reboot.
Reboot to start the check.
After it finishes and loads back to your desktop it should display the results.
Post the results here.

If all else fails, you might have to bite the bullet and do a fresh install of windows.
I can't check any boxes but here are the results

Oh ok. Windows 10 must took out scanning for and attempt to recover bad sectors option.

But it looks good no problems with the file system.

I covered that with my first post, chkdsk /f

I prefer Powershell over the window UI.

also just to be sure but you guys tried everything on https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2274-IFLV-5334 right? including Repair Library Folder

Try reinstalling steam. Save your steamapps folder and your userdata folder. Place them on your desktop. Uninstall steam and then reinstall it. Move back your steamapps folder and userdata folder.
Steamapps holds your games and userdata holds your save games config files and your screenshots.

They can be found here.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

Try downloading again.

Try downloading again.
Instead, use the proper backup/restore tools of Steam, through Steam->Backup and Restore Game on the library window, complete backup process, reinstall steam, then import/restore.

This ensures you get the .acf files you need as well.

Well you do know when you copy the steamapps folder to another location it also has the .acf files in there also. So yes my way is quicker and a lot easier for people to understand.

The .acf files are located in the steamapps folder just in case you didn't know.

Files downloaded that are required runtime libraries to use the games you have installed on your system. Stuff like DirectX runtime libraries or visual c++ stuff.

It has direct x files and the c++ runtime libraries files that games use to run. It won't hurt reinstalling them. It might or might not fix your problem but it's worth a shot.
