So it's not necessary to do this before the sale ends ? I mean in order for the game to register right on uplay ?
Ah ok, cool, thx for the info Hotsauce.
Thought i needed to do this before the sale ends, but i've been busy with stuff for work so haven't really had to much time to even install uplay.
Please note, you can only link the game once, that means once you link that game to an Uplay account, it's bound to that very specific permanently, there no transfer, or do overs. So ensure you login to the Uplay account you want to claim your game on when launching it for the 1st time. When trying to login with another Uplay account, but you already claim the game on your main account, it will ask for a key, basically in short prevent you from playing the game due to the fact the game was already been claim as this is Ubisoft form of DRM, and it will only work for the account you claim the game on. So do note you can only claim the game once, and you want to claim on the account you want the game to be claim on.
Uh ask for a key ?
And what do i do ? I mean i'm buying it directly from steam, it's not like retail that u have manually enter the key.
But if you're trying to login to the wrong Uplay account that doesn't have the game, Uplay will try to prompt you into getting the game for that account that doesn't have a copy. Hence why you can only link the game once, not multiple time. Just like how you redeem a CD code once for Steam it's the same logic behind when redeeming your Uplay game on your Uplay account, as you can only redeem it once, and thats the end of it.
Example how redeem works.
Steam main account: Alex > Launch Rainbox Six Siege > Uplay starts up and ask you to login or ask you if you want to claim the game > You login to your Uplay main account: Alex > Once claim game, game will launch, and you can play all you want.
Example how logging into wrong Uplay account after already redeem the game.
Steam main account: Alex > Launch Rainbox Six Siege > Uplay starts up and ask you to login > You login to your Uplay different account: Alex2 > You be asked to get the game, or redeem key for the said game > If unable to do either, will not launch your game. To solve issue, login to the account that link to the game in the 1st place hence Uplay main account: Alex.
Can i still claim it if my uplay account is on a different email ?
Steam and Uplay accounts are on different emails for me that's why i'm asking.
Sorry i don't understand... same account that has the game on it ?
Only steam will have the game on it UNTIL i load up uplay to log in correct ? After that both steam and uplay will have the game on it correct ?
Thank you !
Finally i can rest assured i can get all the stuff for work done and play the game when i feel like it.
I know this might be a dumb question but, can you actually go years without redeeming them ?
I mean isn't there eventually some sort of time limit like 10 or 20 years ? Just asking out of curiosity.
For one of the Uplay game in the past years ago, before Uplay was doing the DRM launch to claim your copy, you would get a key on Steam when you buy a copy, which one of the games were no longer getting a key, and the only way to solve the issue was to contact Uplay support, and provide them proof of you buying it on Steam, showing transaction date, and copy of your game, another case was faulty key from Ubisoft that get from Steam, which same thing.
So no need to worry about not redeeming them for a long time, just note that there's no time limit as of this moment, and doesn't seem there will be any unless somehow Steam was going under, or Uplay making a last call for redeeming anything for uplay or something which seems really unlikely to happen at all anytime soon, or at all.
-edit-
had to fix the misunderstanding. Again no need to worry just redeem the game whenever you want, can leave it for years, and still be there, redeem whenever you want, as there no time limit.
