Can't Put Friend Chat With Friend List Windows

I don't know why, but for some reason I can't attach the friend chat window with the friend list window, do you know that little square-window like button? It doesn't exist...

Friend list -> Options -> Chat -> Dock chats to the friend list -> ON

It should work after you close it and open it again.

It is on, it work outside a game, but it doesn't work when using Steam Overlay.

And when you try to switch it off and back during the game when using the overlay? If not, Iˇm sorry but I don't know what else could help.

I have the same problem, it started happening a couple of weeks ago, i think it was an update on steam. I still haven't resolved it yet, but a workaround i do when i play is to go into steam overlay, settings, then turn "Dock chats to the friend list " on and off a coupe of times. After that just alt tab and do the same outside the game. Then when you enter game again all should be fine, if not, try to turn on and off the dock options again,

It's an annoyance, i know, but at least it works. Let me know if you resolve the problem, i am curious too

Chat Dock Issue

Every single time I play a game the Chat Dock isn't working. I have to open Steam Overlay, go to the Chat Settings, turn off and turn on again to work. If I close a game, the Chat Dock does the same outside any game, I have to do all this process again (not overlay) turn off, turn on... If I play another game (or the same game) I HAVE TO DO THIS PROCESS AGAIN.

Every single time I play a game, or open Steam after exiting a game, I have to turn off and turn on the Chat Dock... How to fix that? How to save to stay on FOR REAL instead of showing me it's on and yet not docking? I mean... This is annoying, and lost of time.

It's pretty annoying. It works fine outside a game, but when I open a game, this setting is off again using the overlay. I turn it on and the game minimize to show me how it "undocked" the chat outside the overlay, then I turn it on again and it's finally working inside and outside the overlay... until I open the same or another game. Also my games minimize when somebody send me a message while I'm fixing this.

Anyways, a question: how can I update the chat? When it gets an update, it always say "your chat is X days outdated", then it should have an update button, right?

I'm having this issue, desktop is docked, game overlay is undocked while settings say its docked so i need to change to undocked which undocks my desktop and i need to then redock both
