Especially USB sticks tend to lose a lot of writing speed when constantly under load.
They are not designed for such tasks and throttle down due to hitting thermal constraints.
They get slower so they don't damage themselves.
Reading is a lot easier task to do.
Even "just" a SATA3 SSD is faster than USB 3.0 could ever be.
SATA3 = 6 Gigabit per second.
USB 3.0 = 5 Gigabit per second.
Plus, the hardware is actually designed for such tasks and does not loose performance as fast as a USB stick which is designed for short time use.
