You might need to provide a little more detail. Like where are you reading this? Is Windows and your currently open applications using 2.05GB of RAM perhaps? Doesn't seem crazy to me.

Windows ram is combined with gpu ram.

dont leave your pc on for long periods of time, make sure you turn it off when you sleep etc.

My first guess would be on-board video card using 2GB of memory. But yeah we need a lot more information before we can say what is actually the problem.

Assuming you have more than 1 ram stick, it is likely one of them is failing. Try to re-seat the sticks (with the pc off) and see if it detects the full ram. If it does not, try booting with 1 stick at a time. If it fails to boot with any of them, that 1 stick is the problem.
