Steam chat and friends list turn black
Every time i open a game that does not run in the native resolution of my screen (3840x2160) steam chat windows, friends list and steam browser immediately turn black requiring me to restart the steam client. This turns out to be quite tedious after a while and i would like to know if someone knows how to fix this.

Try these things out in your Steam settings.

Two other options I can suggest, but can't say if it will solve, or reduce the issue, or not.

- Opt into Steam beta, if already in beta, opt out instead. Steam settings > account > click on change, and either opt in, or out of Steam beta.

- Reinstalling Steam, to keep games, and screenshots, go to where you install Steam, move these two folders outside of the Steam folder "Steamapp" and "Userdata" folders, move them outside of the Steam folder or else they be deleted when you uninstall, once they're outside your Steam folder, uninstall Steam, ensure Steam folder gone, if not, delete it, then reinstall Steam, launch Steam, let it download, once at login screen, don't login, exit out of Steam, move back the "Steamapp" and "Userdata" folder back into the Steam folder, if it ask if you want to replace files, click yes, and then launch Steam, and test to see if issue resolved.

The steam beta might work however the issue persisted even after i reinstalled windows due to unrelated reasons so i don't think reinstalling steam would fix this.

Not much else I can suggest, as this is a web base chromium UI.

Are you overclocking your GPU at all?

No

Is it at least an Nvidia GPU? If so try opening the Nvidia Control Panel and up top click Help and enable Debug Mode. Try using that for awhile and see if it solves the problem.
