Steam Games Frequently Stops Recognizing Controller Inputs
Hello, I want to apologize first for failing to figure out how to use the search function here. I kept trying to filter by "Help and Tips" but every time I tried to use the search function it would use "off topic" and bring me very irrelevant topics.

So my issue is that my wired xbox one controller has started to randomly stop working. Power remains on, the controller remains connected, and the controller settings in steam still recognize the xbox one controller.

However, after a few minutes or sometimes seconds, all input from the controller stops working. I've used the same controller for months without issue.

Things I've tried:
1. Switching USB ports.
2. Buying and using a new officially licensed USB cable from microsoft
3. Toggling every possible combination of settings within Steam -> Settings -> Controller -> General Controller Settings
4. Restarting Steam
5. Restarting PC
6. Unplugging/replugging the controller before launching a game
7. Unplugging/replugging the controller while a game is active
8. Checking for drivers for the xbox one controller
9. Setting the xbox one controller to never turn off (device manager settings)

Any help is worth trying and I appreciate the time!

First time I've heard of wired xbox one controller from MS*. What model?

1) Are only steam games affected by this behaviour?
2) In Control Panel, open Gamecontroller (Search for "joy"). Choose your controller, in the properties tab you can test the controller to verify functionality. Test it when the controller seems to stop working.
3) Download the Xbox Accessory App from the MS Store

Thanks for the response, I tested in other games and it still happens. It appears to be the port on the controller itself if the cable moves in a certain direction when I change positions. Super annoying. I just wish that steam would recognize the controller again when I unplug it and plug it back in.
