Steam doesn't open when I use my mobile hotspot.

Hey I'm having some issues with my steam. I stay in hostel and the school internet blocks steam so I use my mobile hotspot. I recently came back to school and I tried to open steam and it doesn't open saying network issues. I open my browser and it works fine. I'm using the hotspot through an iphone x and I have mcafee livesafe installed on my laptop. I haven't had this issues until I came back and when I was at home, steam worked perfectly fine with my mobile hotspot. Further I tried this with my friends hotspot and it worked perfectly fine. Any ideas or suggestions on what I should do?

reduce recource requirement in steam menu at Library

i cant say if mcafee update cause this. but sense steam gui change/update, that has cause some/many grief depend on mid-range pc and low-end pc. and what is that, well if the pc is not high.end anymore newest fastest pc then you can run into more trouble down the road. and then that trigger depend on how slow or run into odd or weird issue as crash to slowness.

and it dont help if you are laptop and use balance mode, that itself reduce parformance
you need FULL performance. and no i dont want to debat IO issue in balance mode /full performance, let me said it loud and clear you already lost if you run at balance or minimum mode. ( laptop has many modes depend on who made them, entertainment mode or game mode. ) what you need to be sure is full performance. so netcard and other operation is not reduce in power. so you can actual be fooled if mode still reduce IO at disk or network card.

and its here i keep saying to all laptop owner you need to stop thinking you are a desktop pc you are not same at all, laptop is build for max power saveing ( desktop pc dont do that. )

all laptop owner should mentions they are as you did atleast, but in this case its not about the brand or model and graphic game issue, so that info is not a issue yet.

and what happend here. could be steam or you are so close to edge in resource that now it trigger it and dont work. ( sense it has worked before. )

If school is block Steam, are you using your mobile data plan to hotspot, or are you using school wifi to hotspot?

im using mobile data to hotspot

Does your friend use same provider, or different one?

Does it work certain locations at school, or everywhere?

my friend and I use different providers and it doesn't work everywhere

Hard to say exactly, but if it works with your friend, and not yours, then might be network path way issue, or just not getting good enough connection that just times out.

my internet connection works really well and is really fast. The only issue is that google chrome works and not steam. I'm having the same problem with spotify where it won't go online because it says that there is not internet connection.
