Accessing Micro SD Card on Steam Ran by Linux on Chromebook.
Recently I received a 256GB, Gigastone Prime Plus micro sd card for my chromebook. I had downloaded Steam from Linux and as Chromebooks have little storage, I would like to instead download games to my micro sd card. However, I cannot seem to access my sd card from the Steam Download section of the settings in the top left hand corner. Can someone help me figure out how to download games onto the sd card so I can play them from my chromebook, instead of getting more internal storage? Or am I doing this all wrong? I really would appreciate the help.

Edit: Might not be possible on Chrome OS - If you format a USB drive or SD card from within Chrome OS, it will automatically format the drive as exFAT without even asking which file system you want to use.

Double edit: exFAT should work with Steam

So I was able to format my card, yet it is still not appearing in the library options. All I see are options for folders that are mostly 3 letters long, and just other folders instead of anything related to the card.

What are the names of the folders?

I just had a browse through the Chrome OS reddit, and it seems that running Steam games from a SD Card on Chrome OS is near impossible. and if you can get it working performance is pretty bad.

They are also available in USB

I already have a micro sd slot in my chromebook, I don't need the adapter. The problem is I don't know how to take games that I want to install and install them onto the micro sd card itself, as I don'thave enough internal storage and need external storage.

The way I do this should be the same for you so heres my steps
select Install game from library choose location for install> Select your SD drive>next
Create New Steam Library on drive ( the name of your sd card) go next and the download starts?
Heres another guide

My sd card doesn't come up under the Create New Steam Library option.

Make sure the card is formatted to NTFS and not FAT32.

How would I do that?

So when I first go to Steam Library Folders, there is the original installation that is my chromebook. When I click add library folder, there's a huge list of names like fontconfig, panorama, ubuntu12_64. lib, lib64, mnt, opt.. And the list goes on. Things like srv, sys.. I've seen videos that show another drop down option to a D drive or something, but I don't have those options.

Edit: Or if I try to install a game and change the location at installation, I get options like "/dev/dri/card0" and "/dev/dri/renderD128"

Did you end up getting it to work?

Pretty sure they would of said something a year ago when the thread was still alive. The marked answer is all the answer you need.

Have you tried looking at the /mnt/chromeos/removable/ path?

I figured it out. go to mnt and double click on it. then it will say chromeos, double click on that. then double click on external and the SD card will show up. I just did it and it worked.
