Valve Index Controllers with HTC vive base stations

I read that you can use Valve headset + controllers with HTC vives base stations. My play area isn't huge, its like the minimum 2x2m. They suggest the Valve index base stations if your play area is large, but im thinking since mine isn't i can save about 318euro on that.

But my question is if i use HTC vive basestations does all the functions Valve index controllers and headset come with work? I can't seem to find wether for example Valve Index finger tracking will work? I mean how can i play a multiplayer game if i can't flip someone off :D (joke).
So ye will fingertracking etc work with HTC vives basestations and Valves controllers?

Base Station compatibility?

1.0 (HTC-branded) and 2.0 (Valve-branded) Base Stations will not work with each other in the same VR setup.

Index will work with both 1.0 and 2.0 Base Stations.

2.0 Base Stations will not work with the original Vive headset or Wand controllers, but will work with the Vive Pro product family.
