Can I play MS-DOS games on Windows 10?
Hey guys. I wanted to run any MS-DOS games such as Quake, DOOM or other; but I have a problem because these games won't work anymore or if some works in Windows 10 but I'm unsure about that, even can only run a application with command prompt only and needs a full screen but if is going to be a problem with computer or system.

If not working then don't worry I have a Windows 98 (which it's my computer for now as of 18 dec) and these games are always works to play.

So is there a answer about Windows 10?

Ok. But I don't want DOSbox because it has problem and it's not reccomended for me. And I don't think if is safe?

DOSbox is safe, idk how you think it's not safe unless you're telling us you plan do something sketchy, or get your stuff that's from sketchy places that aim to cause you problems, in which that be on you, has nothing to do with DOSbox at all.

FYI Publishers use DOSbox to emulate their games, which why they're still selling DOS games on Steam, and GoG if you somehow didn't know. Such as Doom, Star Wars dark force, Duke nukem 1 and 2, list goes on....

Yeah, curious about that. DOS BOX has been the standard for playing very old games for years, i mean GOG versions of DOS games all include and run on DOS BOX and i never had a problem with it in all my years.
Whats supposed to not be save about it?

Thanks for answers. Ok, then Thanks anyway. Then guess I'll Install DOSbox to play MS-dos games. And I want a Quake game to play but I still haven't bought yet and I will buy later when I'm have enought. Here's what: I'll play MS dos game on Windows 98 first then I'll play on DOSbox (on Windows 10) after I finish 1 MS dos game on Win98.

Also QUAKE game has still on Steam Store and that's why I buy that game. It's my favorite game.

Also. No need for answer about DOSbox, and now I know that everythyng. :)

64-bit versions of Windows haven't supported MS-DOS since Windows 7. Windows 10 doesn't support it at all. You will need to use some type of emulation, if not DOSbox than something else.

Actually Windows 2000, XP, successive versions are Windows NT and aren't DOS based and don't have native DOS support, which is why DOS Box existed well before Windows 7.

Then you don't want to play DOS games that badly. Trying to run DOS games in an OS that doesn't support DOS has problems. Trying to run an ancient and insecure OS that does support DOS also has problems.

And not recommended for you, by whom?

And it's safe. Safe as any other random program you probably download and run without worrying. Like Steam. Or 7-zip. Or Notepad++. It's just software that lets you run old DOS games that won't run natively in modern Windows. And the project has been under development for nearly 18 years. If it wasn't safe that would be fairly common knowledge by now.

Ok, I get it. I was curious, after I installed DOSbox then Windows 10 system is gonna lose. But I'm unsure about this. That's all. But I'm fine with DOSbox after you answered many times and now I'm gonna install that.

Maybe the unsafe part is people doing stupid stuff and not downloading from the correct site. Just use the proper site and you should be fine, you can't miss it.

What is Windows 10 going to lose? Dosbox is a program, not an OS, incase you were concerned it would wipe your Windows 10 install.

This is where you download DOSbox, so you somehow can't mess up where to download it.
