Changing Password - Trade ban?
So I know if you reset your password - you get a 5 day stop on trading

I just want to change my password, but when I do so it brings me to a page that says "Reset password"

Whats the correct way to just change my password?

I go to Steam (in top left corner) -> Settings -> Account tab -> Change password (under Manage Steam Guard Account Security) and this leads me to a popup that says: "Steam Support. How would you like to reset your password?"

I don't want to reset my password and get that trade ban, just change it

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Changing/Resetting the password is the same thing. A change to the password puts the ban in place in case it wasn't the account owner doing it and gives that person time to recover and regain control of their account before their stuff is sold/traded off.

There is no way to avoid this.

Changing it is resetting it. It's set to something now, you want to set it to something new, ie set it again, ie re-set it.

Using a different adjective doesn't make it a diferrent process necessarily.

Try not to get hung up on the terminology so much.

It "changed" (pun intended) a while back to always linking you to the reset page.

Ah ok, i was looking at old threads from a while back. So changing password will always initiate trade ban, good to know.

Thanks!

Well ban implies punishment. You're not being punished.
