Steamwebhelper keeps reseting to GPU
For some reason, steamwebhelper keeps resetting its preferred GPU to the nVidia GPU every time I restart my computer. I go to the nVidia control panel and change it to integrated graphics, restart steam, and its off the GPU. However, when I restart my computer it just changes itself back to nVidia. Anyone know how to stop it?

I have a GTX 1660 Ti graphics card for laptops.

EDIT: Solution found:

Try this: Top left corner.

Steam>Settings>Interface>Disable GPU accelerated rendering in web views and disable hardware decoding.

but normaly noone will go back to integrated graphic , amd or nvidia card has always been stronger then integrated graphics ?

this dont make any sense, you think Steamwebhelper cause this.

whatever this is GTX 1660 Ti is the best card and faster, everyone can tell you this.

I would rather not disable it altogether, I just want it off the GPU.

My laptop is has Optimus, so it uses the integrated graphics for programs that are not graphically intensive and the dedicated nVidia chip for things like games. This results in improved battery life on my laptop. If literally nothing is using the nVidia chip, then it is deactivated, which improves battery life even more.

Since I never use steam's web services for anything graphically intensive, I believe it should be off the GPU to save power.

Why it this important to you and where are you seeing the information about webhelper using a specific GPU?

The Steam CLIENT doesn't need to be used on the dGPU, the iGPU is enough. For games, you are correct but OP is talking about the client, not games.

I edited in a statement to my first response, but I should say it after you said this. When steam web helper is off the nVidia GPU, my computer turns the GPU off. This saves power and improves battery life. Since I never need the web helper to do complicated graphics things, I see no reason it should use the dedicated graphics when it could be using the integrated graphics instead.

I definitely am using GPUs, as currently my Steam is off my nVidia GPU and my computer reports the GPU as "inactive."

Are you running off the laptop display or an external monitor?

Try this: Top left corner.

Steam>Settings>Interface>Disable GPU accelerated rendering in web views and disable hardware decoding.

sure , but not all games even have option they just use default.
you even sure this is not Nvidia itself with experience or somethings like that, you could try uninstall all other and keep core driver only.

I'm using the built in monitor.

This appears to work! Thanks! I unchecked that box, restarted my computer, and steamwebhelper.exe is off the dGPU
