Installing games in a different drive
Does installing games in a different drive unit from the one where Steam is installed cause any problems (less Fps, longer loading times, etc.)? I'm talking about internal SATA 3 drives, not external drives, Steam on HDD while the games would go to an SSD.

Steam does not really manage games. Launcher executable run the games and locate files for it.

I have never heard anyone having issues with Steam being in another drive. All of my installed games are outside of C:\ as well.

I have no issues with having my games installed on a drive that Steam isn't installed on. My games are spread across two drives and they all load relatively the same. The only factor that affects loading times is the drive speed.

Whenever you install a game on Steam, it will ask where you want to install it. I have several drives and depending on the space for each of them, is where I install the game. Steam will create it's own folder for them on that drive and whenever you want to play that game, it will find it.

Why not keeping Steam & the games on an SSD?

Dont have unlimited space on the SSD, so I want to maximize the available space

Steam doesn't take much space in of itself, it's the games that takes heaps of it.

I forgot to mention that steam is already installed on the HDD with some games, I add the SSD now to amply and improve storage.

I understand now. That's the same setup as mine, Steam & games on an HDD and a few selected (read: ♥♥♥♥♥ when it comes to loading times) games on the SSD.
