Why does the Games Library need to do anything but check periodically for DRM and hacking when playing a game!?! I'm not looking at my library......in fact it's minimised to the notifications bar.....running as a background task.....🤣
and the more things steam lookup the more "steam client web helper" you get.
i actual manage to get it down, but next reboot all is back and point not stopable
but lets seperated the issue , crash and what webhelper is, is 2 diffrent things.
most will agree with that.
my games have been crashing, this is what i focus on, not the size and how many Megabytes it has.
1) The crashes every hour or so have only been happening since the last Steam update.
2) Since the update, the news window that pops up when running the steam app has not been "popping" up.
3) After checking Taskmanager in Windows 10, I discovered at least 5 running instances of "Steam Client Web Helper". With each attempt to stop the service/instance it would just create another one.
4) I have also just now witnessed, after waiting with Steam open on the store page for 10 minutes, the news window popped up but it was a blank/black screen.
This tells me one thing......
1) The "Steam Client Web Helper" is not connecting to the host system properly and stalling the thread/instance. Thus it is creating another instance in order to connect(for whatever reason).
The Steam app probably has a max limit set(thankfully) to 5, and that's why it doesn't go any further than 5.
A fix soon would be good Valve!!
I know we may have a slight language barrier so I'll cut you some slack....But,
Where did I say I was worried about memory? I'm so good with memory that I can play Fallout 4 at 4K on a GTX 760 with 2GB's!!.....😁
The Steam app is required to play the games you get on Steam(there's a hint there somewhere), so if Steam isn't running correctly it stands to reason that the game will crash because the DRM/hacking detection can't validate the connection.
I would just like Valve to stop ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the launcher and fix and forget.

Settings > Library > click the two obvious check boxes, restart Steam and see if that helps.
, this is what most had crash issue with, the new GUI settings
rest is "steam client web helper" i have on my system 4-10 depend if i have clean up abit , but it will be 10 or more , never seem to stop.
and also under interface - disable GPU accelerated rendering in web views

Why should I switch those off for the first time since they were introduced, and suffer worse performance acceleration instead of Valve fixing the problem. That's all I would like.
Oh yeah. That's the bugger.
And yes, you're right. It absolutely is not necessary to have so many instances running at the same time. In fact it's probably causing a cascade effect of stall/crash>new instance.
Shoddy testing if you ask me.
They really need to get the offline mode for single player games OFFLINE FULL STOP!! 🤬
At this rate I'll have to shadow clone their server and run my own. 🤔
I'm guessing you haven't got anywhere solving the issue bud?
gl with it.
