[SOLVED] Signing Into Google On In-Game Browser
Recently I changed my password on the google account I had signed into the in-game browser. I have had this account signed in for years, and everything worked fine. Now, when I try signing in, google won't let me, because of some new policy where they don't allow in-built browsers. Is there any way to circumvent this and sign in again on the in-game browser? It's really annoying not having easy access to YouTube (I've never realised how many things are age-restricted before this) and docs etc while in-game.

I HAVE FOUND A FIX:

1) Go to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\<profile number>

2) Copy the file "Cookies".

3) Paste the file into C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Steam\htmlcache

4) Overwrite the current file.

This overwrites the steam browser's stored cookies to that of your chrome browser. If you are signed in on chrome, you will now be signed in on the steam browser. Not sure if this works with other browsers, but as long as cookies are enabled I don't see why it wouldn't.

in Windows 10 for me 1. was C:\Users\souma\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data

rest are all good.. working for me now.

Before replacing the Cookies, you have to close the steam first. Otherwise it will not allow you to replace the file.

That setting has nothing to do with letting OP sign into Google through the overlay browser. That only allows OP to not require to enter his log-in credentials into Steam's website whenever he signs in.

As the other person says, that only affects steam sites and signing into steam. Google has put in place a policy or whatever that stops in-game/in-app browsers allowing google sign-ins, as they can be risky.

However, I've used steam in-game browser for years with no issues, and now that I've changed my password I cannot get back in due to Google's policy.

That's definitely interesting. The change should be for any game as it's modifying the browser files itself, not the files for a specific game. It works across every game for me.

What operating system do you use? Does it reset every time you close the game? If so, that sounds like steam is overwriting the cookies for Google log-ins for some reason. As far as I am aware it shouldn't log you out of Google unless you have cookies disabled or an auto log-out feature enabled somewhere.
If i play tf2 and it works, then go play randogame for one sec
any game will not remember the log-in

I'm not sure how to help you, considering I don't know why it would do that in the first place (cookies shouldn't differentiate between games) and because it works for me, so I cannot replicate the issue.
This solution doesn't work for me? I followed the instructions, couldn't find the cookies file under Chrome but was able to search the entirety of the files in User Data and eventually found it. At first I tried to copy it over but I got an error, ended up opening task manager and completely stopping all Steam processes, then when I copied the file over to the htmlcache in Steam it copied succesfully, I then ran my game, opened up the browser, and it pulled up to my homepage but I wasn't logged in, and when I selected to log into google it gave me the same error. Any other solutions? Maybe I did something wrong? Google support is utterly USELESS, although its funny to read the 45 ish comments all along the same lines of "Google is stupid for doing this"

Not sure how to help, sorry. It works for me, but I don't know enough about these sorts of things to know why it wouldn't work for you.

I do agree with its another one of Google's recent retarded policies, and it is funny how badly it has been received by almost everyone.
Yeah, it don't work anymore...
It is interesting that it seems to have stopped working within the space of 5 days.
