Can I get VAC banned in CS:GO if my account was compromised and cheated?
My Steam account was recently compromised and I just got it back, but in the day before I locked my account the guy got 6 comp wins and ranked me up GN1. It seems kind of fishy and I'm not entirely sure if he was even hacking while he had my account, but I'm kind of nervous if I do get banned right after getting it back. Thanks.
Edit: I got my account back via Steam support so there's an agent who knows I've been compromised.

Most likely yes, at least that's what usually happens when someone hijacks an account.
I wasn't using my account when I received a VAC ban. Can it be removed?
No. Regardless of who was using the account at the time, VAC bans are permanent and will not be removed.

While we understand this can be frustrating, we must maintain a zero tolerance policy for cheating to foster a fair game that all players will enjoy.

Well that sucks, I better cross my fingers and hope I don’t get banned.

If you value your skins you should send them to another account.

Ofcourse AFTER you fully SECURED your account.

Because if you get a vacban they will be locked forever on your account

Yes, you can.
Even if support knows you got hacked, they won't remove VAC ban.

And leave them there for month, at least. If the hijacker cheated and it was detected or seen by Overwatch it could take days, weeks or longer before a ban is applied. At which point you will lose ability to trade. So make sure you account and system is secure then trade them to another account.

Scan for Malware/virus https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download/
Deauthorize all devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
Change your Account password on a secure device, mobile phone for example.
Generate new back up codes https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey

Even if Valve knows your account was compromised it won't make a difference. A ban will not be removed.

Example why
If all we'd need to do is
1. Mask IP
2. Cheat
3. Unmask IP
4. Claim account was hijacked (not hacked.)
5. Then claim Cheating occurred while account was compromised using IP as proof
6. Get unbanned

Any cheater could repeat steps 1 - 6 every time they want to cheat without any consequences. Valve would have no way to identify if I users account was compromised or if the user faked it and cheated themselves.

Thanks, I’ll send them to a friend for safekeeping.

Thanks for the explanation, I’ll be sure to go through your list
