Set steam into offline mode (Steam > go offline...)
Disconnect any wifi/ethernet (unplug cables and disable wifi) then launch your games to make sure they run.
You should be good to go.
When airborne, Steam should recognize no connection and ask if you want to go into offline mode. Depending on the game, offline mode should still allow you to play games.
Once an online connection can be made, when launching the game it should ask if you want to use the info in the cloud or on the laptop. Since the laptop is newer, you would choose that and it will sync the cloud with the newer data.
I believe that's how it should operate. I have some limited experience but that seems to be how it worked for me.
- Run your games at least once.
- Ensure your saved was ported over from the cloud save for your game if you plan to carry on where you were last.
- Go offline mode, and enjoy.
Don't logout, or you lose access, until you have internet connection again to be able to log back in.
When launching steam, and don't have connection, it will ask if you want to start in offline, or retry again, what you do is click start in offline mode, and now just carry on what you want to do. When you want to sync your saves, it will ask you a question if you want to use cloud save, or the current save you have which you want to use your current save, as that will upload to the cloud.
