Odd freezing problem big picture mode

When I load big picture mode the screen will freeze at the bubble intro thing. But the odd part is it's loaded big picture in the background. Like I can move my controller stick and can hear it switching thru the options.

To fix it I just have to push the Xbox button my my 360 wireless controller to bring up the xbox menu thing. Then close it again and all is well. Untill I load a game, when it gets to the game menu it will do it again. Screens frozen but you can hear it cycling Thru the game menus. So I push the Xbox button twice. Brings up the xbox menu and closes it right away and good to go again.

Because of this I thought it was something to do with the Xbox menu thing. So I went into its settings and disabled the Xbox button from bringing it up. Didn't solve it and now I can't fix it cuz it doesn't bring up the menu anymore. Lol. So I re-enabled it for now.

Was hoping anyone had some thoughts on this?
I just upgraded my system so I have a fresh windows install. Just incase I re-installed my video card drivers (rx580). I even picked a different version just to see if that was it.

It's not really the end of the world. The prob is my young kids don't understand the issue.

Remove all usb device , mouse and keyboad ( and controller )
thrn re-attach usb while windows is on ( know as reset usb configurations, try start steam up witn no controllers attached )

What worked for me, was to disable directsound (in soundblaster command), if you have a creative soundcard.
