My account was marked as a scammer/ fraudulent item holder and I think I screwed myself
Several days ago, a fellow TF2 player contacted me saying that this marking was on my profile and said that he would sent a steam ticket to help me and a few minutes later I was given this Janne Do3 profile who said he would help my profile problem. I sent him most of my inventory so it could be checked, then he had me buy keys from marketplace.tf and cs.deals to, I guess remove the marking. He is now saying that I have to buy a Dota 2 item (the Dragonclaw Hook) which, on cs.deals, is priced at $475! I have not continued further as I think I have been scammed and I would like to hear feedback to make sure this is true.

The guy who originally contacted me said he used something called Hatler to see if i'm a scammer, can someone confirm this please?

The "guy who originally contacted you" IS THE SCAMMER.

Jesus, why are you even asking? They're just MAKING STUFF UP so that scares you.

There are no "ways" to see if YOU are the scammer here, because *they are lying to you*.
Yea I see that now, I just wish I wasn't so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blind to it in the first place
Most people aren't so paranoid to expect it, honestly. That's what every scammer loves, that people want stuff they can't have, or are too intimidated to question 'authority'. It's okay, it's not like you're the first, last, or even midling, in this... I usually try harder to avoid such things because I *have* been scammed in real life in the past to the tune of 400$, so... yeah, keep an eye out, and spot for your friends activities too.

Again, thank you
Pattern of scam:

Bait, story, steps.

In doubt, ask in a public forum and wait for many replies.

But in general, if someone tells you something, ALWAYS leave the given path and check on your own, in legitimate sources. Only scammers need you to stay with them and follow their commands. And only scammers have short timers running quick.
Sorry for your loss.
What you can do now is to learn common scam method so you can avoid them in the future.

Yeah, thanks, the same thing happened to me. Thankfully I had someone tell me that it might be a scam, and then I found this post confirming it was a scam. Thank you random person.
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
