Can't sign into google/youtube account on steam overlay.
Google has introduced this new nonsense which prevents users from signing into google accounts via the overlay browser as it is "not verified" and is a "less secure app". There is an option in your google account to allow sign in through less secure apps but even with that enabled, sign in is still prevented via the steam browser. Anyone having this problem too/can help?

I finally found a fix for me! I don't know if it will work for everyone but all I had to do in the end was to log on to the browser version of Steam in Google Chrome which was logged into the YouTube account email and it allowed me to link my YouTube account. For some reason trying to do it through the STEAM APP has been stopping me all along. Hope this helps some people.
Okay, but does that carry over to the steam browser?

The answer still remains to be "Demand for Valve to support alternative video hosts", because only supporting Youtube and nothing else is no longer adequate

That is not the issue...
The fact that we even have this issue in the first place coupled with the fact that Youtube is the only supported platform for the Steam Community should be indicative that using Youtube and nothing else isn't sufficient anymore.
I tried doing it through Opera GX by logging into steam website and it worked

Still doesn't allow you to use YouTube without linking Google to Steam, and I don't want Google to have that.

I don't think this lets you access your YouTube uploads through the Steam client.

The issue is that people wanna stick to using Steam for using Steam features. I still think that the fact that we still have this problem proves my point about supporting only YouTube and nothing else is inadequate
stfu its about to watch videos in steam overlay nothing else here, noobs

You have it backwards. It's Google allowing Steam to have access to your videos on YouTube. Google doesn't get any access to anything on Steam through this linking.

Why don't they want us to be able to access it from steam?
When Google got into the gaming business they wanted to shut out the competition.

Google has blacklisted Steam Overlay that's all it is. There is no fix for this issue as Google has blocked Steam overlay from accessing its login system.
Nonsense. Google disabled ANY embedded browser, not just Steam.

No they haven't, use a normal browser, and you realize you can still link your YouTube account, and videos. Steam browser is a strip down modified chromium browser that also out of date.
Which is why it's on Valve to fix their [crap]. It's not as if they make games anymore, just Steam, they literally have one job.
Steam uses Google CEF (chrome embedded framework) for the browser. A few years ago Google disabled CEF for logging into google for security reasons. If Valve was going to fix it they'd disable pretty much all the client browser functionality. In which case you'd have to use a real browser anyway.
