Can't sign into google/youtube account on steam overlay.

Google has introduced this new nonsense which prevents users from signing into google accounts via the overlay browser as it is "not verified" and is a "less secure app". There is an option in your google account to allow sign in through less secure apps but even with that enabled, sign in is still prevented via the steam browser. Anyone having this problem too/can help?

If you get the message "This browser or app may not be secure", go back to the login page by pressing the back arrow on the steam client, right click then select "Copy page URL". Go to Google Chrome then paste this page URL. Login to Steam from your ACTUAL browser, navigate to Profile->Videos->Link YouTube account and do it from there instead.

I think people want to embed videos to their Steam profile from within the Steam client, hence my belief that supporting Youtube and nothing else is no longer adequate

Security on Youtube has tightened to prevent the Steam UI from accessing Google logins. Most you can do is use a web browser (Opera and Chrome work fine) and hope that Valve considers supporting multiple video hosts for content embedding. Workarounds are not fixes IMO and it's apparent to me that only supporting the one video host is no longer adequate.

Hi! i fixed this, by using steam mobile! just use the steam mobile app then click video then it fixes the issue

Which overlay are you referring to? Steam overlay or the NVIDIA overlay?

OK, I am facing a different problem. I CAN link my Steam account to my YouTube channel. Currently, my YouTube Channel has 5 videos. But when I link my Steam account, it says, "There were no videos found in your YouTube collection to choose from."

Although it says, "Successfully linked your YouTube account", I can't upload the remaining video. Please advise. Thanks.

its been a year or something like that but not sure yet but uhh yea google really doesnt care about this since they have competition they gotta try to stop steam by doing something annoying that will make people hate google more like why do they not trust steam? its one of the most trustable companies ever in my case i didnt have a single problem with it that wasnt fixed the employees are so nice too they litterally worked for a month or two to fix my issue with me being false banned at r6 bc the game thought i was using wall hacks bc i had 2 gpu drivers installed i deleted my old driver and clean installed the new one and it was fixed so yea idk why they dont trust steam its just dumb of google to not trust them imo
