Can't sign into google/youtube account on steam overlay.

Google has introduced this new nonsense which prevents users from signing into google accounts via the overlay browser as it is "not verified" and is a "less secure app". There is an option in your google account to allow sign in through less secure apps but even with that enabled, sign in is still prevented via the steam browser. Anyone having this problem too/can help?

For those who are still searching for a solution. Apparently this only doesn't work with the steam's built in browser but if you log in to steam through google chrome. You should be able to sign in and link accounts.

Do it via a normal browser like firefox, chrome, or etc. Steam client uses out of date custom chromium browser that why.

And I still think that Valve's unwillingness to address YouTube's incompatibility with the Steam Client should highlight the inadequacy of supporting the one platform and absolutely nothing else. Having support for Odysee and Bitchute for Steam profile embeds would probably go a long way with sharing content on game community hubs.

Found a way to solve the problem! instead of opening your steam account through the application, log into a browser then add your Youtube account! it won't halt the process like what the app does.

Just follow the instructions on the error (use another browser)

If it helps, I had this issue and logged into steam through my browser (in my case Edge), so i had steam open on a webpage rather than the app, and then did the process of linking through there and it worked.

Yeah, but it won't suddenly let the Steam client log into Youtube. The login session only applies to Microsoft Edge.

Most you can really do is to make a thread on the suggestions board about supporting other video platforms. I'd rather someone else make that thread because I've already done that enough times to be a nuisance.

I still stand by my statement that it is no longer adequate for Steam to only support YouTube for video embedding, and the currently outstanding issue of not being able to login to YT through the Steam client shows.

Hi Panda,

I had the same problem and in order for it to let me do it I had to go to the steam website sign into my account on there and link it through my profile on there. It won't let me upload from the steam app. It'll only let me do it if I do it directly from the steam website. So try that and see if it works for you.

Ask for Bitchute and Odysee support. Supporting YouTube and nothing else is no longer a satisfactory solution for video embeds on Steam.
