1080p vs 1440p on a 4k display
What would yield the best image quality between the following 3 options?

Running games at 4K resolution is demanding, so what can i do to maximize image quality while maintaining 60fps. Should i play at 4k with reduced settings, or run the game at a lower resolution with higher, or ultra settings?

1080p can be run on 4k displays with integer scaling, so lossless scaling, but 1440p is higher source resolution, so even if the image is scaled imperfectly, will it still look better than 1080p?

I have a 2070 super, so some games, mostly older ones i can run at 4k 60fps just fine, some current gen games, especially more recent ones, i can do 4k 30fps, but i would like 60.

If i run 1080p i would use integer scaling, but what scaling settings would look best if i use 1440p?

When i play single player games i tend to play on my tv, which is 55 inches.

I don't really have an answer, but you could try ultrawide if you don't mind black bars, might bump your fps up enough. So 3840x1600, or 3840xwhatever custom resolution I guess. There's usually a setting or two that won't make a big difference while seeing a decent fps boost, so just mess around with setting too.
